Current Research


The NYU Langone Parkinson and Movement Disorders Center is actively engaged in a number of research projects aimed at:

  • Understanding what causes Parkinson
  • Unveiling the changes in the brain that lead to problems with motorperformance and balance at different stages of Parkinson progressionand in other movements disorders such as dystonia.
  • Gaining a better understanding of non-motor complications of Parkinsonsuch asdepression, cognitive problems, sleep disorders and autonomicdysfunction.
  • Investigating new pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
  • Developing innovative models of care that can improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
  • Our research is being conducted in collaboration with manyinstitutionsincluding, the City New University of New York, ColumbiaUniversity, Rutgers University and Beth Abraham Health Serivices.
